A major mod jazz/R&B discovery of the last few years has been the immensely cool sound of the Clarence Daniels Orchestra with guest vocalist Obie Jessie aka Young Jessie. Recorded in 1966 it has the vibe of an Oscar Brown classic but had such a small press that it has taken 40+ years to register with music lovers. The previously unreleased flip by fellow Californian Floyd White is another superb jazz-influenced vocal with an irresistible rhythm.
